Anyone know what's happened to Burnell? From what he's saying on twitter, I think he's off elsewhere. Anyone else know anything??

Been offered 450 quid a week instead of what he earns with us for a team in a division above, sadly has decided to play for money not for the people around him...

Guys, long term non-league supporters have seen this countless times over the years that it doesn't even register. Players come and go, go up a league, go down a league, return several times. Nature of the beast.

Let's be honest guys, If someone offered you over 4 times what you were earning now, would you turn them down.....?
I think not....!!!

Too right! £450?! There's lots of pros that don't earn that much p/w! (So I struggle to believe that figure)

I am a bit surprised though, thought he was loyal to Bates

Where has he gone? Those are Conference standard wages, not sure he's worth that money!

He went to division higher , hungerford ,

You got to remember look at st Neots couple seasons ago when in our league they was paying Stefan Moore a thousand pound a week and rugby are paying a striker big bucks this season , if chairmens are willing to part with crazy money in the calor league players will go to who ever payed the most ,

That was funny looking back at St Neots when the scoreboard only went up to 9 and we wondered what would happen if we conceded 10. We all had a good chuckle when we only conceded 9.

Only have to go back to a couple of seasons ago with Leon Osia, when he moved to Biggleswade from us ,to more than double his wage at our club

Certainly no loyalty at this level of football ,

Do u guys reckon a transfer window would be better for non league football ? Would stop players leaving at a drop of a hat , but players would be tied down to 6 month or 1 yr part time contracts ,

Think it's too expensive Will. Ogbonna at Kettering for example, back to back hat-tricks and as you've suggested possibly on a few bob, if he's on a contract and gets crocked for the season that could be thousands of pounds he could be due as a spectator.
There is some sort of transfer window that shuts late March I believe.

Going back to the Dan Burnell business, I was under the impression that he initially joined to help Steve out on the short term and was on a token amount compared to what he could clearly demand. As has already been mentioned how many of us would drop hundreds of pounds every week as a favour?  I think we should be thanking him for his time with us and wish him the best of luck cheers
