So strangely one of the comments from last night was that the players weren't there because they weren't aware of the race night because there weren't any posters up in the clubhouse.

So I have a question for you lovely people, what do you think is the best way of getting the message out there for events that are taking place?
currently we use Facebook, Twitter, the forum, the website and normally posters??

Posters in people's workplaces may be a good avenue...!

Sorry not to make it last night,Mrs Fish was not at all well yesterday. She is on the mend now. Always enjoyed the race nights at other clubs I used to go too. Doesnt matter where you advertise events people will always miss the advert if they want to

Would say as much advertisement as possible..posters..emails..Twitter..Facebook..website..It seems every event the club organises the players are not interested..It should be one of their commitments to the club that a small group of players attend..

I have to say coach that is a very sore point, and one I have been fighting for! And like Mr Fish said if they want to miss the adverts they will find a way... I'm going to be at the club Thursday so may have a word to see if we can get them to more events!

Players are only interested in their wage packet each week, They are loyal only to the managers they follow around, not the people who fund raise to pay their wages. Doesn't matter what club you support, it's the same.

I am on the management of a semi professional Ice Hockey team and they have written in their contract that they must 1. They must all Go to the bar suited after every home game to meet fans and sign autographs etc 2. Attend any organised club functions, ie bingo nights, Xmas do's, race nights, quiz nights etc. 3. Attend any outside events that promote the clubs, I.e children's hospital visit, special needs schools etc. If they do not abide by these contractual rules they lose a percentage of their pay and if it happens a second time they are ousted out. Obviously if there is a valid reason that the coach and management accept then no fines are implemented. Maybe the way to go, maybe not. It does look professional though and is really appreciated by the fans when they see their players joining in with the activities.

just need the club to implement this then..Once you start it then the new players will see it as the norm.

The players are required to stay at the club until 6 (I think) on a home match day. But I'm not sure if it's in their contracts to come to things we have on, I mean not all of them even showed up for their presentation night! I always try to plan things so they are after home games on Saturdays so they don't have come out specially for it, they can just stay. Will have a word tomorrow when I'm putting up the Christmas decs at the club xx
