The popular "Sponsor A Player" is back for 2015/16 and the cost is just £60

Each sponsor will get a link on the website attached to the Player's profile and also your name in the matchday programme. If a player leaves, your sponsorship will be transferred to another squad member of your choice.

To apply mail info@aylesburyfc.com or see Mike or Ryan at games

It's a fantastic idea having the opportunity to sponsor players but I was wondering if we are missing a trick on getting more players sponsored.
I am heavily involved in a semi professional Ice Hockey team and one of our goals at the start of the season is to get home, away and warm up shirts sponsored.
We have 21 players in the team and there are opportunities to have Home, Away and Warm up shirts sponsored, totallling 63 shirts.
We charge quite a heafty sum of £250 but we are never ever short of either businesses or supporters who want to take advantage.
The underlining reason they sell so well is that whoever sponsors the shirts has their name written on the shirt and this is visible all season. At the end of the season the player who has been sponsored does a photo shoot with them and passes over their worn shirt as a momento along with a signed photo of them wioth their chosen player.

The reason I say this is because I wasn't sure whether the shirts sponsored to our players actually are given to the sponsor.
I did make enquiries about possibly sponsoring but was put off knowing that for £60 you actually get no incentive to sponsor other than a mention in the programme and a link on the website. This are OK if you are a business sponsor but for any individual this is a pointless exercise.

Maybe AFC are missing the opportunity to open out to other sponsors other than businesses. If the worn shirt was given at the end of the season then £60 would be a really good price. I'm sure the cost of a new shirt the following season would be covered if you enticed more sponsors??

Just an idea, it works elsewhere!!

Great feedback! The idea is that each person get their name and pic on the website next to the Player in question along with a name check in each matchday programme, again alongside the player profile. What we are going to do, and I know Ryan is still looking for the right frame, is to put the picture of the players in the Clubhouse along with the sponsor in a Big Photo frame/plaque (saw a great example at Berkhamsted in pre season) Shirts are more difficult as we try and keep them for 2 seasons.

:-)

My brother sponsors a player at wycombe wanders and believe if your player wins man of the match award they have a picture taken with them. They also have a sponsors dinner where they sit and chat with the players. They also get invited to training day and at end of season they get the players shirt.I know many of these elements would be difficult but gives you a few ideas.

I see this a bit differently(with an American presidential take)
Ask not what your club can do for you, ask what you can do for your club.
We are a non league community club run on goodwill by the people for the people.
C'mon fellas get your £60 out,  over a 40 wk season it equates to £1.50 a wk, same price as a programme, cheaper than a cuppa and a kit-kat!
Hope I don't get assassinated for this, I'll be staying away from grassy knolls and theatres for a while Smile

At this level of football I'd never personally sponsor a player , always a high risk another club will offer few extra quid a week then they would be off

Your sponsorship then rolls onto another player of your choice

Players dinner in my opinion would have to me a last minute thing to organise though ,

Sorry Ryan rolling over to another players that I did not want in the first place would still not persuade me to sponsor a player; for your money you really get nothing out of it , to make it more appealing to people why not give them a few half price match entry tickets if they sponsor a player , they then get something out of it , like bringing a family or friend who normally would refuse to pay £8 at this level of football for £4 instead , might get a few new faces at the club as well , would make money back on t bar and bar sales .

Personally unless you have a business its not money well spent..would agree with Will in that give them so many free passes to encourage new supporters and make money from beer sales etc..
