an average first half, neither team really dominated, our goal was a class move but aside from that it was flat.
second half they were on top of us, most of the half was spent down the other end - however and this is a big however - they are absolute gash in front of goal and its only their fault that they didn't score once or twice. Their keeper was constantly showing his frustration at his teams complete lack of control and ability to get into any kind of scoring position. there was also a bit handbags down near our area, as to which none of us had any idea what was going on.
other highlights: they had a goal disallowed and took one of the worst penalties ever seen (apparently he missed last week as well - this is their regular pen taker ) - if they had scored that pen early in the half I think it would have been a very different result, but he fluffed it - royally! but to make up for it we hit the post in the second half AND Mr O'Toole out did the pen taker and made a miss that I suspect he wont be hearing the last of, for a looooong time in the dressing room
other observations of the day
Thames ground, whilst its all new and shiny... it feels a bit like a new travel lodge... a bit soulless. it doesn't have the feel of a proper ground, and doesn't lend itself to atmosphere. I like to stand behind the goal when away; and standing in the wide open with boards up to your chest, looking at an ikea style pine coloured stand and nothing else doesn't really do it for me - but that's just my taste, I prefer Goodison park over The Emirates for example - however I don't deny the players must enjoy the facilities and the bar was great
UTD do NOT make the most of the pitch they are using. the rain made the ball zip around faster and straighter than i've seen on any non league pitch.... you'd think they would use the speed of their own pitch to their advantage but it appeared to be as much of a problem for them as it was for us to use...
i hadn't even realised until I got home that three points could have and indeed did put us top of the league - combined with an FA Cup win, and 2 clean sheets its been a hell of a weekend for the one team in Aylesbury COME ON YOU MOLES!
