I see the M word is being spoken on the nomads MB along with groundshare with us. Whilst not totally opposed to the M thing with them I take a look at what they can bring to the table for this to happen, which is........ Question

Bring it on. I welcome it. One club, one ground, shared knowledge. Think it would be great

With the best will in the world our pitch cannot take another SL team in the winter, surely everyone knows that?
Love Ian's post as it rings true in every non league club, they could do with more help now and they don't have a ground or club buildings to maintain.
"however it is clear they can't carry on as they are indefinitely either"  I have no doubts whatsoever that our League status is sustainable, anyone thinking differently is mistaken, however pushing the budget to get promoted is not. If we all cast our minds back I'm sure we can remember what happens to clubs that spend beyond their means.
We don't need them  cheers

Wow just been ripped into on the nomads MB. I asked a simple question earlier in this thread about bring things to a table by the nomads in a view of a suggested M. The only thing we have is a ground (Which I think is a big thing when you run a club), I still was not told what they could bring to the table was I AD81 jocolor

My thoughts on a merger would be that it would have to be a new name and new community stadium.Would have 4g pitches that could be hired out for all sports that would create an awareness in the town.At the moment there is no awareness of the 2 teams struggles and this needs to be changed.
Really can't see the council giving 1 club a stadium and not the other one so it would have to be a merge unless one folded.

Talking yesterday and the thought of just a new football ground needs to be changed. The town needs a community centre (hub if we're talking arty farty talk) with things like conference rooms, art space, theatre, classrooms, creche, nursery, youth club, gym with a football ground attached to it.

Got to be that all the activities fund the football, not just the football funding the football.

Notice as well on Ducks forum, the least pragmatic posters are the ones that never go to games either. Correlation, I think.

Really can't see the council dishing up a Dunstable setup let alone anything bigger, not that I want either but if they did I'm sure they would have to offer it to any clubs wanting to use it.
With a bit of investment the SRD can go one more step I believe, getting up and growing into a SLP club will not be easy but it is achievable and in our own hands.  I'm certain it will be an awful lot cheaper than in some soul less ground that costs a fortune to rent and cuts down our revenue streams.

The only income I can see would be gate takings and raffle money if a Dunstable type ground was to be had Question

Think its Mickey gee that misses out 2 stints at LB when he lists the nomadic history. I was waiting for a clown telling me that history and honours were going to be brought to the table by the nomads, that must give them big bargaining power, good one HTH Laughing

See HTH went to his 4th away of the season yesterday. Should have done your 4th away by early September. If he counts Thame as away, that's even worse.

You're not forgetting the 100 townies with parents that can't drive are you? In 10 years they may be able to drive themselves, what a force they will be then, how will we be able to resist? That's what you call real bargaining power Tony Laughing  Laughing

See Quacks have their POTY award. How do all those Quacks who never
go but write rants on the internet decide? I'm genuinely interested. Do they just guess? Or choose names they like like you do for the Grand national?

They have too pay £15 a ticket(lol) just to be there. They need a club house I reckon. Also get bar takings then!
