AYLESBURY F.C. 3 V OXHEY JETS 2

[PREMIER DIVISON CUP ROUND ONE]

On a night when every one of the sixty plus crowd were thinking about Saturdays forthcoming F.A. Cup tie with Chesham, so was the Aylesbury Management with lots of team changes.
One of the biggest being young Sean Mcilroy in goal making his début. With changes in other areas on the pitch aswell, Aylesbury looked a little lost in the first half.
Oxhey outplayed and out-muscled their way through the Aylesbury Midfield and on the 28th minute, Chris Ingham scored a blinder from all of 30yrds and poor Sean Mcilroy never had a chance. This was due to an error by Justin Gordon, another new face in the team, giving the ball away in defence.
At times, it was a little like men verses boys, but new faces need a chance to shine and everyone was hoping for a better second half.

At the start of the second half, Aylesbury's Ben Stevens came off to be replaced by Kai Ridley and, after a 10 minute spell of Oxhey pressure, Aylesbury started to play their passing game but Sean Mcilroy pulled off a great double save after 53 minutes from a Oxhey break.
On the 62nd minute, from some great attacking play, Stuart Maynard equalized for Aylesbury and got himself a brace by scoring again 4 minutes later. Some great work by Nathan Graham who hassled the Oxhey keeper and slipped the ball wide, allowing Maynard to score.
Aylesbury made another substitution when Steve Sanson came on for Mark Boyce on 70 minutes.
Just when things were looking good for Aylesbury, the ball was played into the path of Wayne Gladdy for Oxhey who hit another screamer into the top corner; game on at 2-2 with 83 minutes played.
After some more great saves by Sean Mcilroy, Oxhey began to look a little jaded and Aylesbury made their final substitution of the night with Greg Williams coming off and being replaced by Liam Smyth.
Time was running out and the thought of extra time loomed, but up popped Kai Ridley with a goal on the 85th minute to win the match and keep Aylesbury's unbeaten home record intact.
Aylesbury are back in action at Haywood Way on Saturday the 10th October against Chesham United in the F.A. Cup 3rd qualifying round, Kick-Off at 3pm.
